All public parks of the City of Sedgwick, Kansas shall be closed between the hours of 12:01 A.M. and 6:00 A.M. to all automobile traffic and public use, however, that this section shall not be applicable when written permission is received for specific extended hours of operation from the City Administrator or City Council. Any such permission shall be requested in writing and no less than seventy-two (72) hours prior to commencement of the event for which such an extension is to be considered.

The governing body may, from time to time upon review, alter the noted hours of operation by resolution properly passed by majority vote at a properly convened meeting of the Sedgwick City Council upon such additional terms and conditions as the governing body shall deem reasonable to effectuate the purposes of this article.

All organized and properly sanctioned special or sporting events taking place in the public parks shall be scheduled for completion by regular closing time except when either the City Administrator or City Council has determined in advance of the event(s) that extension of the regular hours of operation is necessary and appropriate. Any such extension request shall be made consistent with the terms of section 12-101.

Any person adjudged guilty of a violation of this article, or any subsequent modifications hereto, shall be subject to punishment as provided herein. Any person(s) found to have violated this article shall be subject to a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00) or a term of imprisonment not to exceed thirty (30) days as determined by the Judge of the Municipal Court of Sedgwick, Kansas.
