A CHARTER ORDINANCE AMENDING CHARTER ORDINANCE NO. 21 IN ORDER TO ALTER AND SPECIFICALLY DEFINE QUORUM REQUIREMENTSNECESSARY TO HOLD A LEGALLY VALID MEETING OF THE CITY OF SEDGWICK, KANSAS CITY COUNCIL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF SEDGWICK, KANSAS:
SECTION 1. Authority. The City of Sedgwick, Kansas, by virtue of the power vested in it by Article 12, Section 5 of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby elects to amend Charter Ordinance no. 21 in order to alter and specifically define quorum requirements necessary to convene and hold a legally valid meeting of the City of Sedgwick, Kansas City Council.
Section 2. Amendment. Section 2 of Charter Ordinance No. 21 is hereby amended from:
Regular and Special Meetings. Regular meetings of the Council shall be held at such times as shall be prescribed by ordinance, but not less than once each month. Special meetings may be called by the Mayor, on written request of any three (3) members of the Council, specifying the object and purpose of such meeting, which shall be read at the meeting and recorded in the journal of minutes of the meeting of the Council. In all cases it shall require four (4) of the five (5) Council members elect to constitute a quorum to do business; but a smaller number may adjourn from day to day and may compel the attendance of absent members in such a manner and under such penalties as the Council, by ordinance, may have previously prescribed.
